Coughing Exhaust....

My exhuast sounds like its coughing, or even sputtering when it revs down instead of giving a nice clean growl. What could be causing this problem? I've got pretty much stock everything on the engine other than intake/exhaust. You guys are the greatest.

If its cold outside or your car isn't warmed up it tends to do that.
I don't think its a bad thing.

Unburned fuel, running rich, timing, are a few reasons it could be doing that.

Is it kind of like a tiny backfire when the car is returning to the lower RPM's after a rev? If so, then your plugs and wires need to be changed. You probably have a hole in one of the plug wires.

it probably isnt this but u might want to check the tightness of your injector harness's. just press down on the top of all 4 to make sure they are all the way down. one of these came loose in my friends 93 JDM VTEC and it sputtered like crazy.

later,
tim

Thanks guys, I believe it is a DTM dual tip exhaust and it smells like it runs rich, but I know many preludes tend to do that. I'll check my wires although I have no problem with acceleration, its only when the engine winds down. Also, a month ago some @sshole put an orange in one of my tailpipes and I didn't know it was there till it had melted (yes melted) in the left tip. It smelled like shiat and I hope thats not what messed things up.
