Correct me if im wrong... bout h23 block and h22 block

The h22 block and h23 block both have the same deck height from the CENTER of the crank shaft... right?

And if you aren't sure dont' answer, I need concrete info

Reason Im asking is im in a debate with my father about whether or not a accord crankshaft identical to h23 crank, will fit into my h22 block.

He says yes it will fit fine, but we will need shorter rods to compensate for the extra stroke of the h23 crank.... or a piston with the ringlads higher up on the piston.

Do the h22 block and h23 block have same deck height? Thanks in advance.

I tried looking this up but had a hard time finding anything

H23 and h22 blocks are identical. The only difference is the stamp!

Yes, your father is right about the fitment and needing shorter rods. H23 rods are shorter than H22 because of the longer stroke.

I had mine with f22 crank and h23 rods. Everything matches up fine. The only difference between the 2 cranks is the pulley bolt. Some of the f22 cranks have a bigger crank pulley bolt. I forget the number, i think 16mm but im too lazy to look it up. I got some part numbers if you were interested.

Yup, the deck height is the same.

You do need the shorter rods to go w/ the bigger stroke; and whaddya know, the H23 rods work perfect!

H23/F22 crank, H23 rods, H22 pistons and you're ready to go.

Yea I was pretty sure they were the same, I plan on buying a crankshaft from a accord, identical to h23 crankshaft, and swapping it into my h22 block, then buying some eagle rods, and je 9:1 pistons, resleeve with dartons. Build up the head titanium retainers / springers..

Only thing im not sure of is if eagle makes h23 rods.

Sorry for raising the dead here, but don't the '98+ H22s have larger crankshaft journals?

Yes they do compared the JDM H22A and the USDM H22A1. You can not do the h23/vtec on the h22a4 unless you locate a JDM H23 off the base model 5th gen, don't really see many of those, but i have see one or 2 posted up on ebay.

What? You mean JDM F22B DOHC. There ws no H23 in Japan. All 98+ motors have the larger journals, even JDM

no there are jdm h23 in the 5th gen preludes. I have seen them. very rare, they were on the lowest bottom line models that came with 4lug. Yes i know 5th gens are supposed to come with 5lug but there were some that had 4lug hubcaps and a h23 motor. Or even the Euro SIR H23A DOHC VTEC motor would be the crank you would use if you were going to do a h23/vtec, but if you were able to get your hands on that mite as well get the entire block.

no. I don't believe you, show me where these models came from, I've done a good chunk of research on the JDM models...

Yes the Accord Sir Wagon had an H23A DOHC VTEC and an Auto tranny. D_Ludesions had an H23A block from JDM land he was doing a turbo setup on, the 55 mains...yummy.

The lowest of the 5th Gen. Prelude lineup was the 2.0i with a SOHC F20A with 4 lugs, hubcaps and all.
