cooling problems

my prelude was over heating,we took the thermostat off,it was damaged. it got replaced but it continued to over heat, now it can be one of two,the water pump gone bad,(the pump does not make any sounds indicating that it might be damaged),or the radiator being clog'd... has any one had this problem?,anybody that can give a heads up before i start stripping it down?(1993 prelude)

Are the radiator fans turning on when the car is overheating? Does it only overheat when at idle, then cool off when you are driving on the highway?

car is fine when in adle but once a start running the car temperature starts to rise, the fans do come on and it drops it but not all the way to where its suppose to be. i noticed the radiator has a small leak on the bottom but not from the hose.(note: my car is really lowered, posibility that i have might broken the radiator?)

Try it find the source of the leak. If it is coming from the radiator, replace it.

How do you know your old tstat was broken? Did you test it? Also, the first thing and easiest thing to do first is to completely flush out and bleed your cooling system. Try that first. Worked on my gf's honda when it was overheating, no more problems lol.

Is the coolant level running low? If it's low on coolant, your car will definately go warm.
Just top it with water (if the outside-temperature allows it), until you've fixed the leak!
If it still runs low after you've fixed the radiator, your waterpump is most probably dead/leaking.
Happened to me, but I was aware of it. I always had a bottle of water in the trunk just in case until I changed the timingbelt and waterpump.
