Control arm bearing? (Machinehead, Dr. James???)

After hitting a big "step" in the road, where the grooved section of asphault being resurfaced ended, I noticed a popping sound in my front right control arm area. After a few weeks of driving on it, it has only gotten worse, and is very audible ... it's unbearable now. I looked at the upper right control arm, and there looks to be a bearing or small, circular assembly of some type, which is leaking oil or grease, and looks dismantled, compared to the sealed assembly on the left front side. Is this a bearing that can be replaced? How much?

it is probably the ball joint. I am not sure about the top, but the bottom ones are pressed in and can be replaced. Go to a local parts store and see if you can get the upper ball joint. if you can, it can be replaced, but have a spare car ready, because you will have your work cut out for you.

You do not have to replace the whole arm. That is only what Honda does to get more money. both ball joints can be pressed in and out.

yes def ball joint..and yes both can be pressed ....or you can go to a local Junk yard and swap used controll arms if you don't want to deel with that.

If your gonna doit yourself you'll need a pitman arm puller to separate them.. I recamend you swap used parts or leave this job to a pro...depends on how experianced you are

COOL! Thanks, y'all! I got a family mechanic to find a used control arm w/ the ball-joint in it, and he's going to swap that bad-boy in. I think my old ball joint had separated like a month ago. It sounds HORRIBLE when driving slow, trying to turn. GOD that's a painful sound to hear ... PoPPPP! POP! THANKS AGAIN, EVERYBODY!!!
