Console Swap

Does anybody know how hard it would be to swap in a 94-96 center console in a 93 VTEC 5-speed? I like the armrest and controls position better on the 94-96 VTECs. The only major mods it would seem are rewiring the power mirror swtch from the arm est to center console and switching the e-brake handle to the other side of the console and then replacing the door insert where the old mirror controls were. Thanks for any input.

You don't have to re-wire your mirror controls if you don't want to. Otherwise, it takes about 4 hours to do the install.

Guess I should consider my self lucky to have the "cool console" in my 95. Why's everyone always want to switch?

That cup holder is worthless.. In my opinion anyway. I had this discussin on hpoa, but the cup holder is only half a circle, with 1 flat side. You can't fit anything other then a small sized cup in there.. a fast food medium size MAYBE. The spring tends to come loose and you lose the thing and the lid sticks open too. I screwed mine shut because I wouldn't let people eat or drink in my car anyway normally. The arm rest, yeah I can dig that but I thought even the early ones had an arm rest too.. any body got a pic of the 92-94 arm rest? Or was it just 92/93?

I'll take a pic of mine when I pick it up. To get me to buy I had them fix quite a few things. They are replacing the windshield, fixing the power antenna, getting the radio code, fixing the drivers seat (the lever that leans the seat forward is inop), servicing a/c since it was blowing hot air, fixing a rust spot over the passenger side wheel well, fixing drivers side sun visor (won't stay up), and then they replaced timing belt, broke the water pump when they were doing that so I am getting a new one, and they replaced the auto tensioner belt. I am supposed to pick it up Tuesday or Wednesday.

it was just the 92 and 93 console. They changed it for 94-96.

you can fix it to where it locks closed, all you need is a paperclip and some needle nosed- pliers, there is a write-up on here or hpoa.org

none the less, i like people swapping stuff and i love my console sooo its all good

The only reason i changed to the 94-96 console was the storage bin is bigger in the 94-96 console compared to to the 93. The arm rest is also bigger and doesn't squeek as much as the 93. Other than that the cup holder is cool, i don't use it for food, i just now have a place to put my phone.

The arm rest on the 94-96 console is farther forward than the earlier console, and much more comfortable to actually use. . . and the cupholder is a HUGE plus.
