Compression Test Results

I have done some research on PO.com on compression numebrs for H23 and only found 1 or 2 results. Can i see some more people's compression test results for the H23?

I have ran the test on mine and pulled 175 psi in all 4 cylinders. Just the other day i ran the same test and got 210 PSI in all 4 cylinders. I have no clue what happened, i ran the test with the same method i always did and i get higher numbers. btw, the first test was done about 7 months ago and the second one was done about 3 days ago. Anyone know what the stock compression is supposed to be? Any feedback is welcomed.

thanks,
tim

As long as they are consistent, I wouldn't worry too much.

But to answer your question, I don't know what a H23 should pull as far as compression goes.

Did you do anything differently during the test? Did you have it warmed up more? Did you disconnect the fuel pump? Did you take all of the plugs out?

According to my Helm's, 178 is the nominal compression for an H23

That's really odd... you should try it again, and see if it reads the same.

My 92 H23-a is doing 215 and 220 psi thats warmed up to temp. I was kinda shocked because my Honda shop manual (about 4" thick" says 178) has any one figured out why these high readings are here.... Carbon on top of the pistons maybe??? My car has 171,00 miles on it

Though the Helms says 178 is the nominal press., that probably means that's where it needs to be, although it could/should be higher. Everyone that's pulling 215 across all four, that just means that the engine is in good shape!

ya, especially when the PSI is 215 in all 4 cylinders. And come to think of it, the second time i ran the compression test it was at operating temperature. The first time the engine was cold. it all makes sense now.....
