Common 4th Gen Si Problems

Hi, I know this is probably a 'noob' question but other than the regular maintenance and tune-ups, What are some common problems I should be looking for while I tidy up my newly purchased 93 si? My dad and I bought the car for $500 and all it needs is an a/c compressor, so we have the money to replace things that may go out in the future, and would like to make it as dependable/effecient as possible as it will be used as a daily driver. Thanks alot, Any advice would be very helpful. -Mike

The most common problem, that I'm aware of, is Idle problems. But if your Idle is fine at the moment, then I wouldn't mess with it. You could however take your Fast Idle Control Valve off of the bottom of your Throttle Body and take it apart and clean it. I would clean the Throttle body while your at it.

Other than that, just a tune up. New plugs and wires, fuel filter. You might need that extra money for new tires?

Yeah thanks, I was thinking about cleaning the TB, but wasnt sure if it was necessary, the tires are good(prolly 90% tred), it has new brakes pads/rotors,new oem exhaust, few more new things can't remember though...

nothing mechanical really.. they are built pretty damn good! the only problem that i really see everybody having is the climate control lights and buttons not working. but they can be fixed by taking it out, opening the unit and resoldering the connection points.
