Cold start IDLE problems

Background: 92 Si w/H22a

On cold starts, the idle will jump between 1-2.5k rpms. But after a few minutes, it'll drop back down to ~1k evenly with no problems.

So I'm thinking it's something to do with the fast idle valve that warms up the car on cold starts. How would I go about fixing it? Is it a part where I can take off and clean out or something?

TIA!

Didn't do the coolant bypass mod, but I'll have to check under there. Thanx.

it could also be a number of other things. such as: iac valve, vacuum leak, low coolant, air in the coolant. mine does the same thing and i've been trying to track down the problem for quite a while. by the way, if anyone has a good iac valve for sale let me know.

With low coolant, doesn't the idle surge regardless of engine temps? Mine only surges on COLD startups, like in the mornings where it's been sitting around for awhile. But after 3-5 mins, the idle will go back to normal and it'll drive perfectly fine.
