Coilovers?

I've got skunkworks 2 coilovers I got from my friend and I'm looking to install them on my 93 VTEC but I'm not really sure what else I need. Do you stil use springs with coilovers? And what shocks are a good match with coilovers? I dont race so I just want a daily driver that looks good. TIA

No you don't use your stock springs. any aftermarket struts/shocks will work fine. Don't take this the wrong way but don't try this yourself I don't want you to get hurt. Go to a shop it shouldn't be too much I only charge 100 and it takes about 30 minutes. So other places can't bee too much more, less.

You will need your basic socket wrenches, air tools help a lot, spring compressor for your stock springs, jack stands or even better a lift, a friend, don't do it alone, try and get the instructions if you don't have them, they will help you, (try skunk 2's web site if you don't have the installation instructions) you would be in good shape if you have a service manual. I can email you a pdf of the section on suspension if you want.

Don't put them in with out new struts if you can afford it. Why do the same work twice like I did.

Do you still use springs with coilovers?
not sure what you mean there.

You can do this in 30 mins? I would like to see this. I've done 3 Preludes w/ air tools and I've never been that fast.

When I bought my skunk2s it took me 1 hr to do the front driver side and the rest like 30 mins on each side. So a total of 2.5 hrs. That's before I bought my air tools. Now I can most definately do them all in roughly an 1 hr. Gotta love air tools. I also didn't require a spring compressor because it's a coilover...just set it really low and adjust it after you installed everything.

I don't use a spring compressor anymore takes to long. Thats all I do anymore with these ricers around town, so springs are too easy and boring. I think the longest it has taken me lately was an hour cause this accord was rusted to hell. But yeah coilovers or springs in about 30 mins.

damn, 30 mins...that's quick. I think it took me close to 4 hours to put my teins in. 30min / 4 corners = 7 1/2 mins per corner. You are the master of spring installs and doing it without a spring compressor WOW!

Now sometimes they are to rusted and take a lil longer but usually I do the front together and then the rear together. Like I said it is pretty much all they have me doing right now and it pays really well. I charge 100 plus I adjust them for people for free. Aren't I nice.

This might sound a little bit off topic but you work on people's cars when you're not on military duty? If you do, any hints on how to get started? I recently purchased a complete set of air tools for the garage and I can pretty much do everything except for engine swap cuz I don't have a hoist. I was thinking of doing this during the weekends just to pay off my air tools and have some lunch $$$ at school After all I'm just a broke college student.

Well the scene is getting really big up here so I just started talking to people and people see my car and like how I do things. Word of mouth is the best.

For aftermarket struts, most people choose either koni or kyb. It depends totally on what you want to spend and what you need. Search some old posts because this topic has been beaten to the ground too many times.
