Clutch/tranny problems

My clutch is acting up. A while ago all my clutch fluid leaked out (I know, I know)and well, I thought I needed a new clutch. And with the help of a friend (cantdrive55,ryan) he drained the fluid out and put new brake fluid in. My clutch and everything felt brand spanking new.

Fast foward to two months later and I now have a couple of problems.

Today I couldnt really get into any gear except second. My clutch feels the way it did with no clutch fluid, except that I have clutch fluid. Sometimes when I let the clutch out slowly (like when I'm in first from a dead stop) I hear a squeeking noise sorta right where the clutch reservoir is. What could this be? It's not that something is loose it just happens when I am shifting/using the clutch sometimes. It's hard to explain but sometimes everything runs perfectly fine and then once every couple of weeks I am convinced that I need a new clutch.

Today, I guess I'll try to drain and put new tranny fluid in but thats only if I can make it to the pep boys...

Umm I had more comments and stuff but I cant remember.

thanks
alan

Let me elaborate on how it's acting up....

This is what happened this morning: I start the car put it in reverse back out, put it in first and drive to the apartment complex exit. (everything running fine) I am at the exit I clutch in put it in neutral and when it's my turn I try and put it in first. It won't go in. I SLAM it in and it grinds on the way. I start to go and my car shakes a little more than usual. Into second gear and the same thing happens. Third, fourth all really hard to get into and all grinding. Finally I get back into my apt complex and everything is running fine again .

This happens like once a week. New clutch? Cluth master cylinder thingamajig? I'm dumbfounded.

****, buy a new transmission. Yours is certainly fried.

If you were doing this kind of crap when your hydraulics went the first time, you might have just bent all the shift forks and shredded the synchros to where nothing works right now or is marginal. If you didn't and you didn't drive it... then you might have a hydraulic problem now (probably whichever item you didn't replace). If you had crap in your lines or reserviour, you might have contaminated the new component.

What's more serious is how you've driven it lately, and I'd suspect you've damaged enough that you will need some actual internal work.

I know, I know. Right now I am in huge debt and I have 28 bucks in my account. And today was the first time I actually slammed it in gear, usually I pull over or double clutch. I had two people behind me I felt rushed, angered, sad all at one time so I just slammed it in. Ever since I ran out of clutch fluid I have been keeping an eye on my fluids. I just took it out a few minutes ago and it was working perfectly fine....

You probably still have internal damage...

All I can suggest is replacing whatever you didn't replace before and bleeding properly.
