Clutch Installation Problems

After spending all afternoon trying to put the transmission back onto the engine and failed I am after some advice, tips or suggestions.

I have replaced the clutch on my 2.2 v-tec jdm.

When tightening the flywheel nuts I centred the clutch plate with a clutch aligning tool yet when I try to push the drive rod though so that I can tighten the bolts up it doesn't want to play!

Is there a technique or handy tip when installing the transmission back onto the engine block?

Here's hoping

As long as you used the tool, you should be lined up or at least close to lined up. I think it helps to have the tranny in neutral. But like stated above, you just gota work it in.

Is the engine out? Or are tryin to put it back in with the motor in the car? I totally decided to remove my engine when i do my next tranny swap. While the motors out i need to do some major cleaning in my engine bay.

Ya gotta try to turn the motor over a little by hand. The splines may not line up perfectly, so you have to make them.

When I did it I tried too hard to jam it in there the first time and messed up the splines alittle bit. I had to file them down and clean everything really well and it just slid right on there. 15k later no problems.
