clutch help needed... plz help...

i posted this on the general discussion board, but it got no responses... im ready for the purchase, but im waiting on responses from you guys...

well, my original clutch finally gave out after 94k miles... i have a quaife diff and a fidanza fw sitting on my dresser, and i was waiting to purchase a new clutch before i threw all three in...

after reading all the clutch posts on this board i have two choices i cant quite make my mind on, exedy cerametallic, and rps stage 3...

by this time next year, i will be boosted and built, but until then, the car remains 100% stock under the hood... i dont want to buy a clutch that i will have to swap out later on down the road...

the prelude is not a daily driver, but it is taken out on the road on occasion, so the clutch has to remain fairly streetable... i know its overkill now, but do you guys think either clutch can be used in a stock prelude without many problems???

so far, im leaning towards the rps, since i heard it is slightly more forgiving, but im very open for suggestion... if any of you guys can help, please do...

Clutchmasters Stage 4.
Something with a 6-puck disk and a nice PP is what you'll want.

You mentioned that it's not a daily driver.. does that mean you don't drive it much? Or is it a racer (road race style)?

If you just keep it at home and only take it out once in a while, I don't think you need something as extreme as the cerametallic (exedy), so if the RPS is a bit more forgiving (I don't know anything about them, only that Dr James swears by them), go with that. Something with a full face disc will probably be the most pleasant to drive in traffic.

If you're racing.. well, get something that'll hold. Exedy cerametallic comes to mind . If you do a search for clutches in this forum only, I know there's some older posts (from late this summer maybe?) from Dr James about clutch recommendations. Search by user name. He gave some good RPS info.

Hope that helps you some..

CM stage 4, or the RPS clutch.

The RPS stage 3 is an awesome choice. If you plan on boosting next year, then this clutch is certainly for you. If you plan on keeping it to a minimal boost, sya 7-9 psi, then the stage 2 will work fine as well. The stage 2 uses the RPS pressure plate, and a stock Honda disk. This set up is slightly stiffer than stock, but offers the advantages of the full face disk (no chatter, easy operation.) The Stage 3 uses the RPS Pressure plate, and the RPS Carbo claw disk. This disk is a 6 puck ( 3 ceramic, 3 carbon/kevlar) disk with your choice of a sprung or unsprung hub. If this car is going to to driven in traffic at all I suggest the sprung hub. It is easier on the drivetrain, and A LOT easier to drive day to day. It did have a bit of Noise/chatter during break in, but soon after it subsuded, and now it is as easy to live with than any other clutch. It grabs and holds all the power that I have thrown at it. I use it in my Supra as well, with ZERO problems. People that aren't used to the clutch that get in my car to drive it think that the pedal is too stiff, but I am used to it, and I never really notice. I have used the Exedy as well, and they are truely an excellent clutch. But It wore out rather quick. I haven't tried their Organic clutch, But if you are going to be boosting, that clutch isn't for you anyway. Both are excellent choices, But I prefer the RPS Stage 3.
