Clutch break in question

i know I have to break in my new ACT for 300 miles city/highway miles after install drivein like a granny . Does that mean I cant be 3rd gear an wind it out into VTEC as long as I let the revs drop to say 4K before I shift?

By the way its prolly better i can't drive the car hard after the swap... cause im installin E/S suspension bushings all the way round an prolly better if I cruise for a couple days to make sure everything went back together right.

Thanks
Dane

what the mechanic told me is that you can wind it out, just don't slam shift it and don't do any 4k launches.

just take it easy, iwouldnt bring engine rpms past 4k before you hit at least 300 miles, and thats not highway or crusising miles either. i especially would not recommend "winding it out in vtec"

i got my act clutch installed and my mechanic told me to break it in 500 miles to be safe. and thats all city. no launching, or power shifting or any type of racing. just be safe and dont hit vtec for 500 miles. not that ong of a time. plus u get to save some gas!

WARNING: OLD POST
WARNING: I'M IN WRONG FORUM

Damn! I just got my car back tonight after getting new clutch and everything else that goes with it. I haven't had it for like 3 weeks because I was hoping to do it myself... but I finally realized that I DON'T want to be on my back anymore.

Anyway, I peeled out of the shop (getting used to OEM clutch vs racing) and I proceeded to have a lot of fun with my car. Now I come back and search for more clutch threads and I read this. I prolly should have guessed there needs to be a break in, but my mechanic failed to remind me.

Anyway, I launched, I jerked it around, I drove it hard. Do I still have a chance to baby it for the next 500 miles?

thats not the mechanics fault at all... But I've heard that you can properly remate the clutch with the flywheel if you drive it for 500 miles with under 3k rpm shifts, and no highway driving. I broke my clutch in for 1000 miles. You might get lucky, but next time do some research.

YOU BISH! YES I know better, but I wanted my car back so bad... I don't think I messed anything up, except just like brakes, i didn't get the surfaces to get to know each other enough... so i might POSSIBLY get a little slippage right? oh well....

you might've glazed it a little...but i doubt it's going to cost you another clutch assembly. just take it easy. i broke in mine, shifting below 3k mostly city and freeway traffic driving for about 900 miles. i thought minimum would be 500, but just take it easy man. trust me about that~ in the long term run, it's better that way
