okay, awhile back i thought i seen a thread on how to fix the usdm climate control so that the lights would stay on, the buttons would change the settings and the AC would work also w/out having to bang on the dash.
well i've searched and searched, am i just looking over it??
im ready to install the JDM console, so whilst i'm pulling that out, i might as well do the CC & foglight install at the same time.
what jdm console did you find? the 94-96 if so youll love it i switched from my usdm 94-96 for the jdm for the added leg room. a 6'1" guy is a lil tight in there
just a lil hard for the chick in the passanger seat to give you the highway delights

i have a 93 console, it doesn't go all the way back. the jdm console is similar but has the arm rest/cubby and cup holder w/ the switches between the ebrake and the arm rest/cubby. what other jdm consoles are there?
petern - thanks man, i'll PM you if i have any questions. that's if you stick it out here on the new PO..
okay, which solder points am i focusing out.. i think i may know which ones they are. but a diagram would be nice
Look really closely at all the solder points. You should be able to see very tiny cracks in them if they are bad. Those are the ones you want to focus on.
focus on the ones ones near the front if the lights dont all work, and if you have ac issues do the ones in the back where the plug goes
the jdm console i have is the 94-96 in the us the ebrake handle is on the left for the jdm ones they are on the right, gives the driver more leg room if it is on the oposite side. im 6'2" so i wanted the extra room for my knee
you wrote it? so did everything work correctly afterwards?
my floor setting won't work, and the lights still seem to come on when they please. but my A/C works!!
Ever since I resoldered all the bad joints everything has worked perfectly. If you're sure you fixed all the solder joints jiggle the wire harness around. The connections may be bad. You may have missed a bad joint the cracks are really small but it's enough to cause it not to work.
Is there any way to test the solder points, maybe with a voltometer or something. I melted the points to the green plug and the points above the LEDs. The A/C is still a little touchy if I hit a bump, and the rear defroster still doesn't work, but everything else is fixed! I can't figure out which points to shore up to fix the A/C and rear defroster for good.
Any tips on the soldering the circuit board would be great... not something I have much experience with.
I did this last week or so, I would HIGHLY reccomend adding some rosin solder to each point.. just a tiny bit so they dont connect to other solder points, but the amount of solder on the original points is ridiculous.. I'm suprised it EVER worked.
You can get some Rosin core solder at radioshack for a few dollars.
Good luck!
I found a guy on e-bay who will repair your heater control for $50+ S&H. Everything works perfectly now! Well worth the money for a solid repair job. Search for 'Prelude Climate Control' on e-bay.
BTW, are there any tricks to hooking the temperature control cable to the the heater control? What a pain.
THANK YOU FOR THIS YAY!!! I love this site... You know 12 out of the 16 pins were BROKE not cracked BROKE.. Man you know my a/c fan wouldnt work either and i checked fuse, the switch! I mean everything in the helms on why the a/c fan wouldnt work. After i Soldered all the pins and put it back together WHAM the fan came on.. I mean i see the Radiator fan all the time when temperature reaches certain point, but i never ever seen the condenser fan come on till then!! An i had the car since july..
oo this thread helped alot well the FAQ haha thx for it YOHAN420
