Cleaning K&N on CAI

I have had a CAI for 2 years now, and before I had it, it was on a 2k SS 'lude for about a year. So, it hasn't been cleaned in about 3 years and I think i need to get it cleaned. Mainly because I have the time and I usually don't have anytime during school. My question is - what is the easiest way to get to the filter without taking the whole bumper off? My friend just got a CAI on his 99 LS integra and it sounds nice, you just barely tap the trottle and you can hear the intake. i want mine to be like this....would cleaning the filter help? I know it would probably improve gas mileage, but it is a K&N.

You can try going through the fender-liner to get to the filter. Just detach the plastic liner and it should be right there. As for cleaning... goto PepBoys, or any other major Auto Parts store and buy the K&N Cleaning/Recharging kit. It comes with one bottle of cleaner, and a bottle of filter oil. Follow the directions on the kit, and you should be good to go.

I just cleaned my K&N for the first time in 2 years about a month ago, and I can tell the slight difference in power. The engine is more responsive to throttle input, and sounds nicer. I had alot of dirt built up, and mine is an underhood intake... your CAI is probably very dirty.

Hope I helped.
