cleaning EGR sensor....

okay, I ran a code 12, tested out the EGR valve and the valve is okay. So i guess its just a dirty connection. So as far as cleaning the connectors go, should I use some air spray cleaner like the ones you use for cleaning your computer parts? I have a bottle waiting to be used, but I just wanted to be used...

You can also reapply dielectric grease on the molex connectors.

You might want to hose it out really good with carburetor cleaner. USE CARB CLEANER AND NOT BRAKE PARTS CLEANER. Carb cleaner breaks down the carbon much much better. You can hold the valve open with your finger while you spray to clean it out good.

"Electrical cleaner" is almost the same as carb cleaner, btw. (some say it IS carb cleaner) They're usually in the same section, near eachother. I also used it to clean out my IAC and it worked like a charm.

Most people clean their computer parts with compressed air, which isn't the same thing.

Thats good for getting dust off your parts, and great for a quick dash dusting... but it is compressed air, not a solvent based cleaner.

you're probably just going to need to buy a new one....don't be surprised if cleaning it does not solve the problem. I've tried to a few times in the past, and once or twice it fixed it temporarily (1-2 days), but I still ended up buying a new one.

good luck with it-
