This is a home made short shifter. The basic idea of the short shifter adapter is to raise where the shifting cable is attached to the stick. You can buy these things from 40-80 dollars.
I decided to make my own. I had it on my car for aprox 6 months but removed it because i was afraid it was hindering the cable in some way ( im not a transmission expert so im just being safe)
I did this for my friend as well, and these pics are of this car.
The total cost of parts is around 5 bucks...
If you engineer it right, you can get the shifting really short. I got this idea from another friend who had a neuspeed short shifter. The neuspeed and the homemade shortened the shift the same amout ( no real difference)
Here you can really see what to do. There are 2 sets of brackets that I added on. Now we didn't cut the extra metal off, i would look alot nicer if we did...
Just a shot of my headlights on my friends car.

The shift is really short, just as short as a neuspeed, it does the exact thing as a neuspeed... so if my short shifter is damaging the tranny, so is the neuspeed, for those who have installed this, they will know exactally what im talking about.
As for the material, i not sure what its called, i got it at home depot.....The headlights are the ones that were on my car, im trading with my friend for jdms, so i decided to trade the custom ones with another friend....

That setup might get in the way of a shift boot? or make the boot look too bulky? Unless you are going for straight performance over looks, that might be a way to emulate the DCsports/Neuspeed short throw shifter.

...That is soo gangsta but hey if it gets the job done... damn man you are like the king of custom fabrication....
You might want to file the edges down on that contraption. It looks like if you misshift or slip of the shifter, you could slice your hand open. That and cut your boot.
Also, does that material you used feel like it will hold up? I've messed with that stuff and it feels somewhat flimsy.
I thought about doing something similar, but got the DC adapter instead, which has been taken off, due to the shifter feeling too motchy, and rubbing the boot.
Originally posted by H23ludeDude Do you do the custom headlights for other people??? How much? Oh yeah, how much does Outlawlude charge for the taillights? Just curious.
Outlawlude doesn't charge anything but shipping if he is still doing it. I heard he was going to cut back on doing it for ppl. I had him do mine and I didn't puss out so I paid him 20 bucks on top of shipping. I would have paid him more because I love the look but I am a broke ass college boy!

LOL, hahaha thanks Jose... I know its pretty ghetto..but like you said, it works : )
I could get it a little more compact... but i dont even have it on my car anymore...and yea it does look like it'll cut up your hand if it slips.....hahhaahh
The material i used works fine, that short shifter has been on my friend's car for over 2 years...
I did do custom headlights but i have decided not to do it for other people mainly because its a lot of work and in order for it to be worth it i would charge a nice sum of money (75 bucks) and i dont really want to do that. I did post directions on how to do it, its in the FAQ section. And if you guys have problems you can always IM me or email me
does anyone really know if the short shifter will mess up our tranny in the long run? Im just scared rasing the cable point will not allow the shifting cable engage enough or something.....

Whrn i had the B&M adapter/POS on mine, my tranny was fine, but after awhile of having it on there I developed a grind into 3rd. I am not sure if that was the cause, but I took it off just in case. BTW, it still grinds into 3rd. The guy at the shop I go to said it might have been the cause, he said it may have messed up the syncros. So, you can take the chance and maybe mess up your tranny or maybe not. I actually dont think its that big of a deal to have it on there, so i am not taking a chance on it.
