Maybe it's like all the reject Mugen stuff - maybe it didn't pass inspection and they label it "Megan" - kind of like this guy I saw who claimed he had a "3-2-1 header"

I hate to say it, but most of these cheap headers are just rip-offs of headers like DC, Greddy, Hotshot, etc. The reason they're so much cheaper is because you don't have to pay for the R&D. When it gets down to it, it's all mandrel bent pipe: intake, header, and exhaust. Companies like DC, Greddy, etc. found what worked the best by spending tons of time and money on the design, then these smaller companies just copy what works best. When you think about it it's not so bad of a deal??

i actually bought an intake for a friend of mine's car and it was by megan racing. i called them up for tech help on how to install it, and they sent pics and reffered me to injen's site and installs cause they said it was the exact same pipe. it sounds like they're just a generic company selling the same thing just without the brand name. i saw that header also on ebay and told myself if my dc sports header ever rusted out, i'd just buy that one. looks good to me.

peace

I consider it like this man.. I wouldn't want to put something into my car I wasn't absolutely positive of. If you want to take a chance on a knock off name header, you might be asking for trouble. Save up for another month and get a real name one (preferably GReddy). Just my opinion, if you decide to try to score with Mugens sister, let us know.

I'm guessing they're just throwing moron buyers off w/ name recognition, and messing w/ letters, b/c the first & last letters are the same, and the "g" is in the same position in both Mugen & Megan...dunno.

Yea ... i donno. Its obviously not a carbon copy of the named brand part. That wouldnt float (i dont think), so its really their interuptition of the named brand piece. So lets say dc is making there header, and they shave a side down a little bit. They plop it back on the dyno and it now produces 10 less hp than stock. Dc says 'lets put a sticker in our design book to not do this ever again'. Knock-off brand company says 'hey we can shave that corner and it will be cheaper to produce' ...

enough said. Buying knock off parts, is like buying knock off shows. If you cant afford to play with the big boys, find a new sport.

And yes, my shoes have only three stripes.

Megan is not trying to confuse people with Mugen. They make parts for tons of different cars, not just hondas.

Still, it sounds like such a silly name for a parts company...

Actually I've been thinking about getting one of these ceramic headers too...

Think it would be an improvement over my JDM header/downpipe?

I love how these old threads are brought back to life after months!
Truth is...I bought the header. I can't say anything about performance gains since I installed it when I did my swap and I have never driven vtec before. But the car is alot louder even with the stock exhaust still on. I guess it freed up some flow.
My only complaint is that a small piece of the paint flaked shortly after the install and the downpipe is already rusting. I'm going to have to paint it again. Later.

I dunno...the JDM headers are pretty efficient. For the JDM Ludes, they actually cared about what they were doing.

Yeah, thats what I was figuring too, I remember the jdm downpipe collector was pretty big

So I wasn't sure it was justified to get headers instead of another mod that would produce more gains. Pulleys, vafc, etc
