mmmmmmm, JDM Climate Control... Yeah it does look odd...but I'm sure the sound in that Lude must be sweet....they should have made it flush with the dash or something...

Has anyone EVER seen one of those before?! I know I havent. I have never seen nor heard of it. From an audio standpoint, I dont think that the center speaker would make the car sound any better. Let's see, with four 6.5's, a 6x9, two tweeters, and that crap. . .thats NINE speakers!!
from an audio standpoint you dont think it would sound that great? center channels are commonly used in 5.1, digital, and other surround systems. in fact the center channel reproduces a large percentage of the information sent by the audio signal. there are center channel processors and amplifiers strictly made for that center speaker. it may sound odd, but they really do bring the audio experience together.

Maybe for in-car video, it would enhance the sound. A canter channel speaker commonly reproduces only the vocals of an audio track, MOST source units and processing euipment in cars is not intended to do 5.1 operation. Yes you could buy a 5.1 decoder, but thats a lot of trouble (and money) just to have that center speaker. Also, it looks like there is actually TWO speakers (?) in there, so they are probably playing left/right channels. . .which defeats the purpose of the speaker in the first place.

that ebay seller should have sold the DSP control unit with the speakers. it's sitting right there under the tape deck.
Holly crap:
So what type of capabilities does that system give you over the standard setup? I'm guessing just differnt modes of sound processing (hall, indoors, etc)?
Please tell me where you got that picture. I already have a center speaker and I have one of those dash pieces on the way so I know exactly the size of holes I need to cut into the dash. I had a spare 6x9 so I bought the bracket and plastic cover and installed the 6x9 in the back. I ended bridging it off of the back speakers. I also have a used radio and the DSP on the way from Japan but probably wont use it because I am thinking of getting a Kenwood KVT-910. With another module I will be able to watch DVDs and experience the full impact of Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby ProLogic, or DTS sound! (Center channel speaker, subwoofer, and center/sub amplifiers are required for 5.1 playback.) Which I have. This is my next project. But again where did you get that picture?

It was located in the thread that ExoudusFX refrenced directly above y last post. Are you going to be using the 6x9 as your subwoofer? for TRUE DVD quality sound, I would upgrade it. . it's going to be the weakest link. I didnt listen when people told me to not bother with the 6x9, and I ended up getting a single 10 shortly after.
