question, what will happen if i remove my charcoal canister? any negative effects? Mine is clogged and not working properly, it has 205,000 miles in it, and a new one is about 150 $ so i wonder if someone knows if i can just remove it. all knowledge on this matter is greatly appreciated.
Other then venting gasoline fumes into the atmosphere and help to kill every living thing on the planet, possibly causing an explosion in the engine bay and probabally throwing a code... nothing
Go grab one from a junkyard, any accord, or prelude within the same model range should work.
as far as not working right it's mostly an educated guess. see sometimes when the engine is at normal oper. temp. (fan comes on) i'll turn it off and run in somewhere and when i come back, it will start then immed. die off. well i pop the hood and in the area of the char. canister it makes a hissing noise like air escaping. i tried to move the vaccum lines around but all lines in good shape. few sec's go by, air stops, and car starts right back up. never stalls while running either. had this prob. for more than a year now, replaced the fuel pump, o2 sensor, and main relay. these were all suggested by different mechs. I DUNNO and am starting to shotgun trobleshoot. ANYBODY?
