changing out antenna for a german style rubber one?

I was wondering if any of you guys have done this with your antennas. I can't stand my electric one. Rubber antenna will streamline with the car nicely. I'm not talking those cheap ones that they sell at Pep boys or something. Or else someone has pics of one that looks nice. Maybe something from a VW or BMW. Anyone?

Sh!t bro, post some pics of that. I would really like to see how that looks.
I wasn't really planning on shaving the antenna. I just wanted to replace it with something smaller and nicer. You know what i mean? I'm just wondering if you can use a bimmer or VW antenna. What exactly did you use?

yeah, i'd like to see pics, i've been thinking about that. or just shave the antenna and use the "hidden" type. Its a wire that runs up your back window, into the headliner. then you have no anntena.

Here's My VW antenna

I had to use a hole saw to cut throught the roof. I have the long mass instead of the short one.

You can get them at:
VWPARTS
VW aftermarket

doesn't that antenna mess with your sunroof when its open?

i looked into changing the antenna to an s2000 antenna but it was a little too much money so i think i'm just going to shave the antenna and go antenna-less till i figure out how to mount the s2000 one.

The fuba bends. It just bends back when you retract the sunroof

might work

The factory antenna hole is oval compared to the hole you would have to make for the VW which is round. You might get away with it since the VW has a gasket to seal water out, the gasket is also oval. I'm not sure if the VW antenna would cover this hole but is sure looks like it. - but then again, it possible to get leaks

I have the small rubber Zender antenna on my roof. I mounted mine in front of the sunroof. I have done this on every 4th gen I have owned. I like the looks better, and I don't have to worry about the crappy electric one getting frozen in the winter. I would post a pic, but I don't know of anymore places online that will host pictures for free. Photopoint makes you pay now.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I hate how the antenna keeps going up and down. Annoying...
Anyone have a pic of the little rubber 'nub' antennas mounted in front of the sun roof? I've seen some cars like that but I'm not sure how it would look on a 4th Gen.
