Changing Fuel Filter.

What a freakin PITA.

Anyway, I attempted but I ended up just getting drenched in sweat and so my mood changed.

Question is, once both the hoses are off the fuel filter, wil fuel constantly keep flowing out? I was trying to pinch the line somewhere but the lines are hard plasitc.

And that top Hex bolt will NOT budge.

Be sure to use a crows foot wrench for those bolts/nuts. They are made of brass and you WILL strip the crap out of them with regular wrenches. Also, did you relieve the fuel pressure before doing this? They are a PITA to do.

Good luck,

First off, you may wanna pick up one of these:
http://www.preludeonline.com/showthr...highlight=fuel

Relieve the pressure by backing out the small service bolt on top of the banjo bolt where the fuel line attaches to the rail. Just undo it a few turns and hold a rag over it.

Actually I never saw a bolt that would need that when I changed mine. The crows wrench will turn any normal bolt, the only difference is that is grabs on to 4 sides instead of two.

The crows wrench makes braking that PITA free a much easier job.... I just replaced a fuel filter Sunday in the middle of my swap... Buddy comes over to help and cant even change his fuel filter... So, I had to stop work on my swap and help him...Wonder how helpful he was?

Red92s: wow, that thing is badass, but I never even saw that bolt... what are the odds?

Ughh... now this makes me not want to change my fuel filter. Anyone have a scan of the Helms page for the fuel filter? I lost my Honda mechanics manual... kind of mad about that one

Ya, what a PITA! The filter is in such an awkward spot it makes working on it a nightmare. Took me like 2 1/2 hours to change mine

it was nice when I had my S, there was no ABS unit there to negate any sort of space you have to work on it, it was real easy to change, could do it in like 5 min... now.. ugh, you're lucky if you can even get the whole wrench onto the fittings. I'm glad I just changed it and don't have to for a while.

That looks a little easier than a 5g. Mine is like ... at the bottom. And i'm afraid to work on it, simply because i dont want gas in my face :P

No need for the crows foot attachment. All you need is a line wrench. That is what they are designed for. You can pick one up from sears for under 20 bucks. Better yet, buy a set of them in metric. They are good for anything with hard to undo lines, (I.E. Brake lines, fuel lines, hydraulic lines etc.)

I thought I remembered reading a thread that said you could relieve fuel pressure by disconnecting the fuel pump fue and trying to start the car for a few seconds. It stated that this should bleed the fuel lines of any remaining fuel in the lines. Does anybody know about this?? Does it work???
