Changin' Tranny Fluid

U guys are gonna laugh... but I've never done this before... This is my first Manual ride.... I've noticed its sometimes hard to put the car into first gear and I heard if I change the transmission fluid, that would fix it? True/False? First of I have a 93 Si, 5 Speed

Also, I read through the searches and found out that it's drained via a drain plug behind a Tire.. Im sure i can figure that part out... my noob question is: Where do I put it in? (I haven't actually gone out and looked at my engine, but I dont recall seeing anything in particular that coincided with the tranny fluid) .

Also i read that there was a special way to drain the fluid??! True? I figure u just unplug n go!! Someone enlighten me!

Another question was about the fluid I use... some people said Transmission Fluid, others said Motor oil, what is it?

thanks for da input.

Changing transmission fluid...

It does take engine oil, but I can't remember what weight. I know it is the Mobil 1 with the green label, maybe 10w30. The drain bolt is behind the right wheel, and to refill it there is another bolt somewhere above it that you fill until it flows out of it. I don't remember more specific details because it has been a while since I did it. You will have to have a rubber hose to fill it, and most parts shops have one that will screw onto the oil bottle and has an on/off valve.

No special way to drain, just undo the bolt and wait. To fill just drop a plastic tube down from the engine compartment and use a funnel. I recommend replacing the washers while you're at it, one bolt uses the same washer as the engine oil drain bolt but the other one is bigger. I use Motul 300 synethic fluid, others say stick to the Honda fluid, and still others like Redline.
