CF sunroof plug anybody?

LighterFaster.com has carbon fiber sunroof plugs for the 4th gen. Lude. They are 318.00. You get a 43 pound weight reduction. Steve Oaks of oaksracing (700+ hp) uses it. The kit is available for the 5th gen Lude as well.

Thanks for the heads up. I was always surprised that defcon guy never made these as I'd think they'd be somewhat popular and you can adapt them to fit both 4th and 5th gen models. Now I just have to find some more $$$ :\

It isn't a functional sunroof after you convert though right?

Nope... the point is to remove the weight of the roof and motor.

Actually it's not a 43 pound weight reduction in a 4th gen.. it's only about 15-18 pounds..

The guy who got the first one is on honda-tech. According to him he lost 34 lbs for the panel and motor parts and then if you leave the headliner and dome lights out it's another 9 = 43

^ In lieu of removing the rust spots across the sunroof and actually needing to cut weight on the heavy bb, I think the mod is worth it. By replacing the sunroof (to CF plug), hood (to CF hood), and front crossmember (to aftermarket traction bar) you should be able to shed about 100 pounds.

What I'm waiting for is just the CF panel (ie, the nasty rusting metal panel.) I like having a sunroof in Miami, but can't stand the rusting of the 4G sunroof panel. Having it in CF would mean it'd never rust, don't have to bother with painting, and still a few pounds lighter than the metal panel. Unfortunately the only person who was working on one, Satan_SRV, hasn't actively worked on it in some time due to time constraints and nobody else has anything like it.

Ditto.
I just want something that looks good and I don't have to worry.

What the **** are you talking about?? I got him to make the original prototype of the 4th gen CF sunroof plug and I did infact loose 43 lbs with the interior panels included (34 for sunroof and 9 for panels).

Here's the thread--Sunroof thread
