Center console removal

For the love of Pete who designed this thing. I managed to wiggle it out and I'm getting ready to put it back in but I figure there must be an easier way! The $&*# parking brake is in the way. Do you have to take it off? Do you have to take off the rear part of the center console? I ended up unscrewing it and pushing it back a bit which helped a little. My Helm is very unhelpful in this point. "Undo screws and lift" my butt.

On the good note I got the shifter in and my VAFC is also mounted where my ashtray used to be. I overcut the right side a little bit so I need to go to the hobby store and pick some stuff up.

I too just did this, this past weekend. I really didn't need to remove the back part for 4bidden short shifter install, but I did to clean it up a little underneath the center thing. I just undid the screws there were four on the back portion and lifted it out sliding it up the e-brake. The cover for the e-brake kept wanting to not let the thing slide but pulling it down helped out.

So you shouldn't have to touch the back portion to get the center console out? Are there any tricks like pull the parking bake all the way up? Or do I just wiggle the darn thing around until it goes back in?

Yeah I had my e-brake all the way pointing up and it seemed to slide over it nicely. other than that is all I did to get it out. But for the short shifter install mine really didn't need to come out. But I think it might give you some more room to work with.
