CEL Code 12 (odb 1) Help

I believe the code is something to do with EGR Valve Lift Sensor..

I was driving the car last night for a long time, and on my way home, it just seemed to pop on, I wasn't driving it hard at all, it just came on.....

Whats wrong?

Mine has been on forever, doesn't hurt anything, I just reset my ecu and it stays off for a while, then reset it again, I checked everything, and all is good, all signals are right, and egr is clean, so I really don't car. It won't hurt anything.

It hurts your gas mileage. When the CEL light is on, the car is running in open loop mode, which dumps extra fuel into the engine. I've ran my car for a while with the light on, as I constantly reset it. I've noticed that the car feels slightly sluggish and under hard acceleration, I get tons of black smoke due to the carbon buildup. If you have VTEC, it doesn't engage when the light is on.

What I did for a while was take off the EGR valve on the intake manifold and cleaned it out very well. After several months it would just get clogged up again. So I just blocked it off. Do a search for more details, it's been discussed before.
