Sup guys, carbon fiber trunks is being talked about in the 5th gen forum and just wondering what the interest is for the 4th gen. I guess if we can get 10 buyers or more Fiber Images will make some. Not quite sure on the details but I am kinda interested.
Heres a photoshopped picture of my car of what it would probablly look like:
But if it could be done, leave the space where the license plate would go....
actually I am not sure, I am pretty much in the dark like the rest of you. I havent really even looked into it, hopefully the guy doing the 5th gen trunks can help us out. I just thought I could bring up the idea and somebody could get the ball rolling.... not much I can do from up here in Alaska....
Have you ever felt the trunk? I didn't think so wothout the the support beams it has to way at least 65-75 pounds. No BS my support beams were takin off and it is heavy as hell even my boy who fights UFC and benches 425 couldn't believe how heavy the trunk was.

Hmmmm, I know where a prelude trunk lid is, I will check this out, doesn't seem it would be that heavy.
Well, I'm in CA, so I may be able to get in touch with Fiber Images to see how much something like this would cost.
Alvin, if you want to give me the info on this (e.g., who's doing it for the 5th gens, who to talk to, etc.) I will make some calls.
I wouldn't really be doing it for the weight savings (although that will be an added benefit). Have you all seen the Lexus IS300 w/ carbon fiber deck lid: I think it looks pretty neat.
A welcome departure from the standard trunk lid + huge spoiler junk we see a lot of out here.
Hey, I was just wondering where would I get the carbon fiber trunk lid for my 4th generation....? I think it looks really nice and was considering putting one on my car.
I think the guy running everything is buh_buh and his email is buh_buh@hotmail.com
I think he hasnt paid the 6 bux so thats why the thread is kinda dying but I think they are still doing it through emails. Keep us updated with what info you find out. Somethings to consider are: price, time, and the part for the license plate.
I think they need 10 people minimum so lets start a list...

Let us know because that seems like total BS. There are no springs helping to pop open the trunk and it seems light as a feather. Hood has a reason to be heavy, trunks do not.
That might help my rattles too... count me in.. alvin if we can get it before you leave we might save on shipping, I'll get that other dude to buy one too, thats 3 right there.
but if I was to order one, I would want it flush like in the pic, no license plate frame.... lemme know if anyone can toss us some details on this ish.

Actually have you seen the new BMW concept cars or whatever? I seen it in a magazine, they sport Carbon Fiber ROOFs and it looks TIGHT on a silver car....

Have you ever looked inside the trunk... look at where the rear speakers come through to the trunk. Do you see those two black metal poles that cross? Those are the supports... they are help lift the trunk up and they are what keeps the trunk up when you lift it. They do the same job as a spring, but take up less space.
