300+ bucks for a c/f sunroof? To save maybe 5 pounds? No thanks.

Yeah if they could make a panel to replace the metal one and make it FUNCTIONAL it would be worth it but for a CF panel cut to size............you could make it at home for $60

werd, 300 is already steep and plus i wont be able to use my sunroof anymore? for a simple cf cut out, thats a ridiculous price. my sunroof has a little rust so i want to replace it but i still want it to be functional. if they could actual put more work then cutting it out the same way and make a cover the replace the sunroof cover, then maybe. but not for a simple cutout, now thats a rip off.

gotta agree, just to plug it up for $300? If they can make an insert for the unit, then we'd be talking.

I agree also. I cant believe you'd even entertain that idea for that much.

What? I thought in the other thread mentioning the CF sunroof it said the stock sunroof setup was about 40 lbs.

No way. Did someone weigh it? When I took mine off, I don't think it weighed anymore than 15 pounds, tops.

you can get a roll 1 square meter for 82.01 and what else does it require? fiberglass or some other composite core and epoxy to make it work? then a little modding with stuff and you're done, if someone wanted to make enough, they could buy a roll for cheap and make several.....just an idea

firs toff you dont' need the motor no more with a plug, and let just say that motor weights a bish.

This would be for someone who has a 4th gen setup for racing. You would save a great deal of weight as the panel + motor is well over 20lbs. They have started this for the 5th gen preludes and will do the same for the 4th if there is enough interest. Weight of the complete kit for the CRX (pictued above was 2.51 lbs. The CRX sun roof / motor weighed in at 26lbs. Look at where your removing that weight from... The plug is .055" thick, gel coated with uv protection. Just though i'd throw this out for others like myself who use there prelude as a weekend racer and would like to drop some un-needed/wanted weight.

for race purposes only..

not to be confused with a direct 2 piece OEM replacement for rusted out ones that I will develop some year.

I would think for race purposes you could just cut your own out and save a crap load...
