Car was victim of a rock to the windshield...

I was driving on the interstate today at about 70 MPH just minding my own business and looking ahead, I see this small black object spiraling toward my windshield. It suddenly hit my windshield shattering the entire thing into millions of pieces of glass. My face is being shredded by glass as I slam on my brakes. I swerve my car into oncoming traffic and my car flips and rolls into the ditch. I got up and called one of my friends to come pick me up.

Alright, I'm just kidding. I just thought I would turn my little story into a comedy. Anyway, I was just hit by a small rock today and it put a nice nick in my windshield. Anyone know what I can use so that it won't begin to crack because of the cold weather?

ok, i dont remember what the product is, but i know there is something u can get at a autoparts store. u just fill it into where the crack is and it will keep it from craking even more. just ask them at the store and they will know what it is.

Just goto an autoglass place and they'll repair the chip for you

Yeah, but I don't feel like paying $50 for something that will be replaced anyway in less than 2 years.

if it's just a chip and hasn't gone through the whole windshield and hasn't started spidering yet, you can use some silicone based stuff that you can get at pepboys. Mine has held up perfectly for 2 years with it.

go get the chip filled. it does not cost anything near 50 bucks. i think its more like 10 dollars and most of the time you cant even tell where the chip was after they fix it.

yea pepboys and auto zone sells the stuff to do it your self. Its like 10 to 15 bucks. I would try them two and then go online to see if you can find profesional fix it tools. Probably in the range of 20 bucks.

i was under the impression that insurance companies were supposed to cover the cost of damaged winshields because it's not your fault and its illegal to have a damaged one.

Last I heard, that is still true.

yea but i dont know if they are gonna replace the windshield just cuz of a little nick? maybe pay for the repair? why even bother. just stop by a windshield place and see how much it cost before going to buy stuff at pep boys. if its too much money, go with the do-it-urself.
