Car thinks key is in the ignition

Hey, sorry if this has been asked before. I tried searching but found nothing. So I got a 1993 prelude and it recently just started doing this. It thinks the key is still in the ignition so when I have my door open it would start dinging and I can't lock my door with the power lock since it thinks the key is still in there even though it's not. Anyone know how to fix this? It's getting really frustrating.

Mine does that every now and then. I just re-insert the key and take it out and make sure I hear the click noise it does when you take the key out and you should be fine. I'm not sure if shooting a bit of WD40 will help lubricate the inside of your ignition switch. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the reply. I just fixed it. What I did was puff a little graphite powder into the ignition and it unstuck the little thing that's supposed to come back up when you take your key out. Saw it on some S2k forum. I guess they have that problem around 6k or so. Also I was told that liquid lubrication isn't good for the ignition. Give the graphite powder a try

Glad you found a solution! I will try that as well next time.
