Car still overheats... :( I seriously need help.

Ok I'm seriously pissed off ... My car still overheats .. The following were done :

New water pump / timing belt ( 2 months ago )
New Thermostat
New cooling fan switch
New Temp sender unit ( that plugs into the block )
New radiator
New radiator cap

What FVCKING else could it be ? My temp gauge would go to 3rd / 4th even 5th bar when I'm in traffic .. it would go to the 3rd bar when I drive after stopping at a red light and it would go back down after couple seconds....

I'm getting ready to get rid of this fvcking godd damnnn lude.

Have you checked for air bubbles in your coolant? If not theres a vaccum toll you can use to suck all the air out of your system. Far from likely, but have you checked your headgasket? Look for oil in the coolant or the other way around. Wish I could help out.

are you certain that its over heating ? do you see smoke come out of the hood ? or coolant leak out of the radiator ? Maybe your cluster is goin bad if u dont see any of these things... but then again, what u said about the 3rd bar comin and goin when u r stopped has happened to me once, thats when i realized that my fan wasnt plugged in, so i hooked it up and never had problems, but you got a new switch.

Okay, you say you replaced the cooling fan switch. Did you replace both??

Do the fans come on when the car is idleing? If they don't come on then you need to check the cooling fan switch on the thermostat housing. Also check the cooling fan relay in the underhood fuse box. Try jumping the two leads in the relay slot to manually turn the fan on. Also make sure the fan is plugged it.

I garentee the problem is with the fans since you have no problems while driving.

The fans do come on ... when I idle ... but still the temp gauge would go up... i dont feel any difference in performance wise while overheating... no smoke or anything like that.. I;m thinking bad cluster as well.. I dont know.. All fans are plugged in... I guess I'll bring it back to the shop on Saturday . SIGH.. the never ending overheating problem...

At what point did your car start to over heat?? Did you change anything that could've led to this issue??

on the drivers side in the engine compartment by the headlight there is a grounding harness. that grounds your temp switch and if it is loose or cooroded it gives faulty readings. mine did this a while back. check to make sure that is tight and not rusted.

Yeah, if you have the opportunity, pop the hood when the readings go up and see if the motor is actually hotter than normal. My cluster was giving crazy temp readings as well as fuel level readings before it finally just stopped working. It doesn't even light up at all now.

You might try buying a cheap coolant temp gauge and hooking it up temporaraly to see if the car is actually overheating or if its just the gauge cluster.

i didnt' wanna start another thread... but i got one question...

if you're getting faulty readings on the temp. gauge... say it goes above normal.... will the fan still turn on??? i know its kind of a dumb question.. but yea..

i'm having the same damn problem... its really pissing me off....

and this suddenly happend about 1500 miles into my engine rebuild... and i didn't even really push my car during the breaking period either... not to mention i put a new radiator in 9 months ago... can it get clogged up that fast also???? i mean... during the breaking period (1000 miles)... my car never went above the normal temp. ... now all of a sudden it goes up one bar a couple times.. goes back to normal... and last night.. it all of a sudden started to overheat....

mahn... overheating's a biotch...

did you check ur water pump? maybe you got a faulty one? its worth a try. because i went through the same deal with my water pump that was totally brand new, and go out within the first month or so. if you removed the radiator cap and let your car idle...and let the car rev higher, the coolant level should rise, meaning that the water pump is working... plz, if i am wrong someone correct me...
