car stalling...why?

ok, this happened last night and again this morning...

i went to start my car and it cranked fine, but wouldn't start. i took the key out and counted to 10 and tried it again, and it started fine.

this morning as i was pulling up for work the car stalled on me, no warning, nothing. but it started up fine again. i drove the car around to the back lot after clocking in, and once i threw it in reverse, the car stalled again. but it took about 2-3 min to start up again.

i got out and popped the hood, and there was nothing wrong, no disconnected wires, nothing out of place. the car still runs amazingly strong, but this worries me a little bit.

anybody else have something like this happen to them?

well, yes i have a CEL but thats due to me being a lazy ass and not replacing my TPS. i check my CEL to make sure there is nothing else besides the TPS once a week at least.

ok, my newly (within a year) installed JDM H22 is not getting ready to blow.

this has to be some sort of electrical problem because all the dash lights turned off, they didn't stay on like when the car normally stalls.

sounds like it could be a distributor.

well the cap and rotor are less than a year old, and if it were the distributor, wouldn't it just never start up?

not necessarily. when my ignitor went out my car would die and then it would take about 2 minutes to be able to turn it back over.

Since you mentioned that your dash lights turned itself off then it has to be your ignition switch. I had the same problem on my 92 Si. Sometimes when I drive on the freeway, the car would just stall. I replaced the ignition switch (electrical side) and problem solved.

Yes, I just fixed the electrical part of my ignition switch and that fixed my problem. There should be 1 or 2 recent threads about this, so I would do a quick search if I were you.

the car just turns off all of a sudden on a freeway??? isnt that really dangerous? what if your in the middle of a sharp turn somewhere it and it turns off. thats a bit scary that the problem is almost common....
