Car reving up and down, Plus oil running out... please Help

Hey Guys the worse thing happened to the lude today, For a while now it's been reving up and down, as if it has no engine collant in it when it has more than enough. That's the first problem, but the worse problem is when i started my car up all of a sudden mad oil just spewwed all over my driveway. I looked to see if it was coming from my drain plug or oil filter and it wasn't, but low and behold it was leaking right by it (oil Filter) from this little valve with a rubber thing on it. Does anyone know what it is called and how much it may cost to fix.... Please Help anyone...

That would be a vacuum leak. Adjust your fast idle valve on the throttle body. Its a little screw. Turn it one direction to raise your idle, the other to lower it. It should go away.

that's your oil pressure sender dummy light

if that is the piece... is it above the oil filter or below it?

i think the one above is the oil pressure and below is the knock

anywho.. it's probably the sender.. they sell universal senders at summit or jegs .. or you can check majestic to see how much a stock new onewill cost...

did you find the wire that connects to that? i think it gets screwed in.. i can't see how it came loose.. but maybe it's hanging on the other end of the line

Yeah it's right below it, it seems like it may have a wire running from it, but I know for sure it has a rubber piece that goes over it. it's some kinda sensor

Yeah I thought that might be the problem. I had a feeling you were talking about the oil cooler (which is what the o-ring goes on), cause I'm having the same problem too. I need to go buy a new o-ring and have the mechanic put it back on.
I had a major oil leak as well, and it would only leak out with the car on cause of hte pressure being put on that section and the o-ring wasnt properly sealing it.

I hope it's just that I need a new o-ring and not a new oil cooler :\
