Car problems... any ideas?

Went out to start my car today to go to work... wouldn't start... as I'm turning the key, the motor is trying to turn over but won't and as I’m trying to start it's backfiring like crazy~! For the past 2-3 weeks it's been throwing a code 43 which is a problem with he fuel supply system or o2 sensor... and before I could start the car right up and it drive great until the motor would warm up, then the check engine light would come on and the car would start to hesitate, back fire... just run like ****.. I did manage to get it started today for a little bit, it idled ok but when I put it in gear to move it, the car died.. Also, when it was in neutral it would back fire like crazy if I touched the throttle.. My new o2 sensor is on order and is supposed to be here tomorrow morning ... ordered one earlier, took a week to get and it was the wrong one, was an o2 for a 2.0 si prelude not the 2.3L si... but anyway, I checked the spark plugs which are 2-3 weeks old and they are black ... so I put new ones in... Still no luck starting the car.. So if anyone has any ideas, please feel free to let me know. Anything I can check or whatever. Thanks! Reply here or hit me up on AIM: Miiiiiikkkee. Thanks to any/all who help~!

-Mike

Well I just changed the o2 sensor, reset the ECU and tried to start the car... same ****.. it backfired as I'm trying to start.. I checked and the car is getting spark, the fuel pressure gauge goes up to the normal 40psi when I try to start.. Anyone know? I just pulled the battery out to charge it up, but I don't know what else it would be? Please help!!

Ok, i had this problem the other day, but it went away for some reason. anyway, I think its either your fuel filter or pump, seems like fuel is not getting down to the ignition. I put some "fuel injector cleaner" in it and it started right away...some weird ****.

anyway, take a look at your fuel filter.

got a fuel filter on order, supposed to be here some time after 4... but of course I need to be at work at 3... The Fuel pressure gauge is mounted on the fuel filter... if the fuel filter/pump were bad, would the pressure gauge still be working? Thanks..

well still no luck with the car... it doesn't backfire when I try to start it now that the new o2 sensor is in, no longer throws and codes... but it seems as though the motor is having a tough time turing over... I was thinking the starter may be bad, I'm going to pull it tomorrow and take it down to be tested. If anyone has any ideas what else my be wrong, please let me know! I need to get the car back and running asap! Thanks

well, we just did a compression test on the motor... #1 cylinder was at around 60, #2 was a little over 100, #3 was at 50 and #4 was at 120. The spark plugs in the motor are 2 days old, the #4 plug looked brand new, the #3 plug has oil all over it and was pitch black as was the #1 plug, the #2 plug wasn't too bad.. I didn't drive on these plugs, just tried starting the motor... we removed the valve cover and there aren't any broken springs or retainers, so were guessing it's a valve or valve seal.. won't know until we take off the head, which is going to suck.. but, I was just wondering what everyone though... any help is greatly appreciated~!

you have a bad cylinder....you might want to start thinking about new engine....and those numbers are ****ty as hell....mine is like 80, 100, 90, 120....
so thats not good at all....you're better off saving your money on a new engine instead of buying all those parts for your old one....

Pulled the motor apart, the valve seals are shot. No big deal, can be fixed for under $500, easy! But I got a 95 JDM h22 with only 40k miles on it, so I'm parting the motor out. If anyone needs anything, make me an offer. I have a complete list of whats forsale in the forsale form. I can take pictures of anything and if your close your more than welcome to come over and check it out. Camgears are only 3 weeks old and I still have the box and reciept, the Apexi S-AFC is also 3 weeks old and I have the box/repiept!! Make me offers, I need to sell this stuff ASAP to help pay for the new motor. Thanks~!

Yeah Dennis, your numbers don't sound promising.

You should be around 180 - 200 and each cylinder should be within 10 of the previous.

Might want to have it looked at.
