car problems =(

So I took my car to get the water pump and timing belt changed....they also did a 21 point inspection...timing belt, water pump, drive belts, cam seals....$675.....upon inspection they found the master clutch cylinder is leaking(does that mean they would replace the whole clutch?)...$280 to fix that....auto tensioner is bad...$87 dollars for that.....rear calipars are hung up and brake pads need replaced....another $280 some dollars...anyone have any suggestions on how I can save $$ other than do it myself because I cant.....and if the clutch needs replaced Im going to get a stage 2 clutch... dunno just kinda pissed off

check into aftermarket parts. They are sometimes cheaper than OEM Honda parts. Or.... buy a helms then do it yourself!

Yeah make friends with a mechanic, ha

Also I don't know where you took it, but ask around and try to find a reliable mom and pop place. There is one where I used to live that had much cheaper prices than any where else.

dealerships = expensive. Any kind of shop is cheeper than a dealership.

Yes it is true that dealership=expensive however,,,,I found that for particularly crucial repairs the best options are:

1. Do it yourself if you can!
2. A reputable mechanic that you know personally
3. Honda dealership if you can afford it
4. Mom and pop ops refered to you by law enforcement officers in your area

In the past ive gotten jerked around by several smaller operations and ended finishing the job myself. In some instances I ended up paying just as much than if I had simply taken it to the dealer. I sleep better at night having the reasurance that a somewhat reputable business with some accountability like Honda is taking care of it. Especially if its a job I cant handle.Well,,,,,IMHO.

I am getting my clutch master cylinder installed for around $90. My buddy hooked me up on an after market one for around $60, and he is charging $25 to install. The OEM Honda clutch master cylinder is around $170.
