I have a problem with my car getting overheated when im on idle.. i changed my thermostat and flushed my radiator... its still heated up on idle... but the weird part is when the temp reading is on red.. i turn off the car and started up again its back to normal.. unless i let it idle again then it start to over heat again.. can some one help me please.
no leaks? thats odd how you changed the thermostat and its fine...I think that gauge is going nuts sorry man, i really dont know what the deal is...someone else help?
If you can't figure out what's causing I suggest you take it to a shop or something or else you'll have to put quite some money on the engine or get a new one...
I had the same problem with my 94 VTEC lude... it drove me crazy for months... after $1000 worth of parts & labor... and three different mechanics... found out the WATER PUMP was the culprit.
I had the following replaced prior to it:
Thermostat
Thermo Switch
Fan Motor
Head Gasket
Temp. Sensor
and then finally the WATER PUMP.
Hey DoHCxVTeKz,
Are u experiencing the following problems:
1) Temperature overheating while in idle or low speed/RPM driving.
2) Temperature decreases almost immediately once the vehicle travels above 30MPH.
3) Temperature stays at 50% for the most part when driven on the freeway.
4) Temperature returns to normal once the engine has been shut up and started up again. Temperature increases again if idle for more then 1 minute.
If so... check your water pump... its shot.
