car acting weird

i have a 92 prelude AUTO, and today i was driving and i noticed that my RPMs where going up and down a lot while i was driving and the car was jerking a lot, then i got to a stop and my car shut off, so i turned it back and made it past the light, then after a stop sign it started to doing it again for about another half mile, and then my car started acting normal again for the rest of the way home. i HOPE its not my transmission, cause if so i might as well sell my car.
but i just had a few new parts to my car, like cv axle, starter, knock sensor, oil sensor, headgasket, brake master cylinder, and like one other thing.
can someone tell me what might be going on?????
would be just a bad alternator??
