Car acted strange this morning

i was on my way to class this morning. its gettin kinda cold down here in orlando, lowest we had so far was 29 or 30. so anyway, i get to the light maybe 5 mins after i left home, and all of a sudded the needle on the tach startin goin buck wild ! it was idling like it was at about 750 or 1 since it was cold, then it just flew up to 4K or 5K , and went back down to 1 very very rapidly like it was about to blow up, and the the throttle was reacting to all that it sounded throught the exhaust , then it did that for about 25 seconds then the car just shut off! which made the car look very strange as i was in the middle of traffic being kool for a minute or so, then this happened. so i start it back up, and its still doin it, so i had to give it gas (to keep it from droppin to low as the rpms were goin crazy up and down,) and keep it at over 3K so i could take off cause the light came green, and directly went to a gas station, turned it off, and checked under the hood. Everything looked fine and in place. MSD was fine, spark plugs are iridium and looked brand new a month ago when i checked them. I m really confused. I m thinkin its the cold that does that, cause it doesnt really get cold around here. What do y ou guy suggest i do, it hasnt done it since this morning . Any ideas ?

Oh and a week ago i turned the ignition on, without startin the car, and the rpm were flyin up and down the exact same way for about 5 to 10 seconds then went down to 0, and i started the car fine right after that and it picked up fine. Then this happened today ...

thx

Have you checked to make sure eveything is OK with your cruise control module??? I've heard of other hondas doing this when the car is in nuetral and the car tries to engage cruise control. If it keeps doing it unplug the CC unit and see if that stops it. If not I have no idea........
