cant get my passenger side axle nut off

had a breaker bar out and still couldnt get the mother off. tried everything, i dont have any air tools so i gotta do this ghetto style out in the parking lot

nothings clicking, but the cv boot's a gonner, and has been for over a month. i dont want to just replace the boot and repack wtih grease because im sure theres lots of road grime and grit already having their way with everything.

SO, i was wondering- are our passenger side axle nuts reverse threaded? i did a small search but i didnt see anything right away and im busy. hah [trying to get my oil change done before it drops 30 degrees and starts snowing tonite at midnight! AHH]

so whats the deal? am i just gonna have to keep sprayin it down with pbblaster or is it reverse threaded?

No its not reverse threaded, its a regular nut.

You need to use 3/4" drive breaker bar and socket. It'll snap that thing off like its a 10mm nut. Works all the time for me. The tools will get pretty pricey, expect to pay about $70.

You can do it one of two ways. First way is to remove the center cap, and have the car parked while you undo the bolt. Second way is with the car jacked up with the wheel off, and have a friend push on the brakes while you undo the nut. You're choice, but I prefer the first way

I used a 1/2" breaker bar with a 5 foot cheater pole on the end. Ususally, I try to stay away from using cheater bars whenever possible, but that's the only thing that worked.

yeah i used a 1/2'' drive breaker bar [only about 2 feet long] and the socket,. i had the car jacked up and had my friend pushing the brakes.. i couldnt get it off.. even resorted to standing on the breaker bar, very carefully. still didnt work. had my friend try to get it off while i pushed on the brakes but he almost broke the breaker bar standing on it. guess i just need a big ass cheater pipe.

glad to hear its not reverse threaded or anything strange. thanks

Hey whats up rachie. I have the tools with me if you need some help, i can come buy. You have to remember to bend the betal out, on the axel nut before it will move. And its not a 10mm its a 36mm i bleive. I have a 1/2 in breaker and the axel nut socket if you need it just give me a call.

we broke 5 breaker bars trying to get mine off. finally we got a sturdy enough bar and used a 6 foot long aluminum pipe as our breaker bar and that thing came right off.

I used a 1/2in breaker bar on my Accord. The ol'man stood on pipe attached to the breaker and busted it. Got irritated and drove my car down to the place that sales tires (Les Schwab) and had him use his air gun on it. BOOM BOOM Viiiiiii..... Got it loose for me and that was that! All FREE of charge

I think what he meant was using a breaker to undo the 36mm nut will be like undoing a 10mm bolt with a regular size ratchet.
