Can't find post

Can anyone tell me why when I turn on my car it shuts right back off? I recently put in a V2 intake and the check engine light was one before that but not until this week did this happen to me. Like I said it turn the ignition, the car starts, but shuts right back off. It can't be the battery because lights work. I can only think of injectors, alternator, MAYBE batter (probably not) and or bad install of intake? I need help PRONTO! THANKS guys.

I had a mechanic come by and he told me it was the ignition switch on the steering wheel that was bad. I have to replace the wiring harness that goes with it also. Does this sound right? It sounds like a DIY project am I right? Thanks for the help guys.

damn that sucks i had the same thing happen. Such a bummer. DIY if you can, I wasnt able to and it cost me. I had the same problem with it turning off and I was able to figure it was the ingnition switch because the engine would stay on if I held the key forward (just enough not to engage the starter) I drove like that to the shop. It was expensive and not fun but since i was on a trip and trying to get home, they had me by the balls.

It's not an expensive part. Just have to replace the small plastic piece that has the ignition contacts on it behind the key. They burn out over time. I had the same thing happen to me last summer.

Sorry for my post above, I thought I saw that you had a CEL as well. I should have recognized it was your ignition switch when I first read the post.

It's cool. I'll admit though I was very confused when I saw your post. I have time to put the part in tomorrow so I'll see if I can do it. I really appreciate all your help. I was about to change my fuel injectors so I'm glad everyone agreed with what the mechanic said. Saved me at least 200 dollars. The mechanic was doing the same thing too. He would start it and hold it just enough so it wasn't damaging the starter and it would stay on. I'll keep you guys posted, Thanks.
