cant find ignition timing in online helms

I dont think I am missing it, but cant find it for my H23.

so far from searching it says to:

put a u shaped paper clip in the little blue connector under the dash.

let engine warm up to operating temp and then loosen the dist and rotate to get marking. then tighten and pull out the paper clip.

are you supposed the reset the ecu after?

Reason I am doing this is I just did my timing belt and when the engine started it sounded great, but once you would give it gas and try to let it idle it would die. so I figured that the timing was out of wack just a little bit so i tryed adjusting it but the engine wasn't idling fast enough for us to see the marking. we would have to speed up the engine a bit to see the markings. so now after adjusting the idle speed and adjusting the timing the car just isn't running right. it idles by itself now, but after test driving it it lags and then goes. didn't hear any pinging but not sure if its advanced too much or retarded to much

and also I have the idle control valve all the way out pretty much but it still is idling less than normal. the helms that in this situation to adjust the IAC valve. Should I mess with this?

If I do and its wrong I'll have 3 things to get back to normal

I need help... I even resorted to calling honda to see how much they would charge but the dude was like... Uh, we charge between $40 and $80 to diagnose it and then go from there

another question,

should the timing marks line up at any rpm or does it have to be at the 700rpm at idle. where you you say on the stock tach that 700rpm is? the 1000 marking or just below it or at the half marking? or is it between both? thanks

stock ignition timing is 15 (with spec being + or - 2).

looks like this with the timing light on it....

+>

unless I had a dream last night though I swore yesterday I seen a red 15 or something. Is the > supposed to line up with the cross or the number 15?
