Can you pull an H23 without the tranny attached?

I'm about half way through the proces of pulling my engine and plan on using my H23 tranny with my JDM H22A engine because of money issues. Is it possible to detach the transmission and just pull the engine then drop the new engine in on top of the old transmission? Thanks in advance.

If you are asking if it will fit....yes. If you want to find out if you can remove the engine while the trann is still in place....no

You can seperate the two, drop the tranny to the ground and pull the block out of the top, then drop the h22 in and bolt up the trans. That would be easier then trying to get the whole thing out of the top.

Good Luck.

i think it would be easier to hook up the tranny with it out of the car and that way you can clean things up before you put it back in...

Ah, I had mine swapped from auto to 5spd and we took the engine and tranny still together. It was pulled in an hour! Just unbolt and yank. Mike
