Can knock sensor be bad while not throwin cel

I am having a bit of an issue. when I am accelerating hard I have a bit of a lag between 3,000 & 4,000 rpms. engine is NA set up & has a decent amount of work to it. After the engine was built I ran lean for a short period of time & through a cel. Running 94 octane & I have it tuned properly now so I don't think i am running lean.

I read somewhere that it is possible the knock sensor can be faulty and cause this type of issue. Is this true?
