Can I install 5th gen. seats into a 4th gen car?

Hey. Getting a 94 prelude S 5spd real soon and one of my first projects is changing the seats. The interior of the car is cloth and really nothing special. I was thinking maybe to add something to it, I could put in some stock leather seats.

Then I started looking at seats and saw the seats from the 5th gen car, I absolutely loved the look. So, I was wondering if it was possible to put in the seats from a 5th gen car into a 4th gen? I'm assuming its not possible for the rear seats but I figured for the driver and passenger seats it'd be doable. Plz let me know what you think, thx.

As far as I know it is entirely possible. . . . all you need is the 5 gen seat bracket (not to sure of the right word) and replace it with the 4 gen seat bracket.

(and if i am worng I appolgize)

think some more about it though, the 5th gen seats suck, mainly because of a lack of lateral support compared to the 4th gen ... the bolsters just aren't big enough.

I hate 5th gen seats, no kind of support. I'd try to find 4th gen OEM leather if anything.

Really? I like the look ALOT more than the 4th gen, not feelin the headrest area on the 4th gen too much. I'd keep the rear seat just 4th gen leather but i wanna do somethin different with the driver n passenger seat, don't wanna leave it 4th gen leather
maybe rsx seats? or s2000? but those look like they wear quickly. I just really like 5th gen seat look, but never actually sat in them, is it really that simple jsut to grab some different brackets?

no, it's not that easy at all. I don't know the specifics, but I'm sure someone like you asked that question once upon a time, search and you shall find. If you're after looks, and like how they look compared to other seats, go for it, but just remember we mentioned how little support they offer

ps. there's a gentleman on toronto prelude club's board selling a complete set of front and rear leather seats, the front ones are heated.

hmm, what's the site to that toronto thing? lol, should check that out. Maybe I'll put in some racing seats, idk, but I don't like the look of the 4th gen and want something different.

It's not a simple swap from what I've read. You would need to customize the rails. And again, 4th gen >>>> 5th gen. Recaro even designed the 4th gen seats!!! Only time I've seen this question is when 5th gens are trying to swap in 4th gen seats! 5th gen are normal crapola IMO.

haha, Idk, I'm not getting this car for racing purposes really or nethin, I just want to get a more luxurious feel in my car. I think the cloth interior looks like ass lol, and I really don't like the look of the front seats in the 4th, just don't like em.

How Much for New Leather Seats?

The first picture and 2nd picture in there of seats are something I want to go with. I don't know if those aren't the stock leather seats or what but that's the look I'm going for.

Now that you guys have an idea of what I'm looking for, maybe you could suggest to me a better seat in your mind thats still black leather? I really appreciate all the help.

Also, if anyone's ever done a seat installation like that, if you could maybe im me at suprachica79 so that we could chat about it or justy reply here that'd be awesome. Thx again guys

They are OEM 5th gen leather seats, and because they came on a Canadian-bound Prelude, they area also heated.

cool. I'd really rather do w/e is easiest. If I can find some decent priced aftermarket seats that are leather and the look I'm going for, I'd be in heaven. But it just doesnt seem like thats the case. I also don't know how much this is all gunna cost. All I know at the moment is I want leather seats in my car and I want to get some front leather seats that I like the look of.

Any other suggestions guys? You all know much more about seats than I, if you know of any seats that would fit in the 4th gen and resemble the 5th gen or have any other seats that are black leather that might work, plz let me kno.

w/e? So I don't get it, do you want 5th gen seats or just aftermarket seats? If the latter, you don't really have to worry as much (or at all) about fitment.

OK first off I am a 5th Gen owner........while you may like the look of the seats more they will probably kill your back in terms of comfort. The 5th Gen seats don't even have freaking lumbar support!
Just take the stock 4th Gen seats and get them covered in leather.
The 4th Gen seats are WAY better than the 5th Gen seats.
But in the end, it's your money.

Well, Although I do like the look of stock 5th gen seats, I'm thinking of maybe going with an aftermarket seat that has the same type of look? You get what I mean? I don't want 4th gen leather seats, but if I hafta go with them, I will. Is there any aftermarket leather seat that has the same seat as the 4th gen but a different headrest? The headrest area and how its big really turn me off of the seat.

wow i cant believe this.... i thought everybody loves the 4th gen leather seats.... i mean even you i get around mustang guys, they may not like anything about my car, but they compliment me on my seats. everyone that gets in my car loves my seats. and you think 5th gen seats look better, another wow... i think they are hideous. oh well.

i do however love the s2000 seats, but those are going to be just as much work to get them to fit as the 5th gen seats... i also dont think its too hard at all to make seats fit another car, im sure if you dont have the time or tools you can find someone that wouldnt charge much to do it for ya.

it is your car, so do what ever you like, i just couldnt believe someone didnt like the 4th gen seats, and it blew my mind thatd youd wanna replace them with 5th gen seats, i mean they look like civic and accord seats!

I don't know of many aftermarket seats availabe in leather, and of those I don't think any look like the 5th gens. You can check out Katzkin.com, they have a lot of plain looking seats. Most of the aftermarket seats people on here buy are large-bolster racing seats or something between that and stock. Good luck.
