Can I Get 225-50/15 Tires On My Stock Wheels W/o Rubbing-ON A LOWERED PRELUDE?

My car is lowered about 1.75" all around on RS*R spring.

I am thinking about getting the Sumitomo HTR200 at the tirerack for $54 a piece(a real bargain).

I know 225/50's are ok on preludes w/ stock height. But anyone have them on lowered preludes?

Anyone ever have these tires?

Thanks!

Hey I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I've got about the same drop. Have you looked into getting a 16" wheel with a 225/45? I'm looking into that as another option.

well, on my first prelude, i had a 215-45-17 set up. but that car got stolen. i'm not really into getting bigger aftermarket wheels, cuz they just attract too much damn unneeded attention(my first prelude was stolen within one month of getting my 17" rh delorizons back in 96'). i'm in los angeles, and hondas get stolen more often here than elsewhere probably, esp if you got stuff worth stealing on it.

but w/ this set up, i rubbed a bit when turning, cuz i was really slammed, about 3" all around by cutting eibach pro kits. believe it or not, the ride was still good.

but yeah..i've thought about it, getting some ssr shumachers or any other light wheels. i've even thought about getting the directional ones from the 94-96 ludes cuz they are lighter. i have a 93 btw.

I thought I didn't have rubbing problems. But I did. I only found out when my fender lining on my front passenger side rubbed through, tore and was dragging along. Nothing zip ties couldn't fix though.

Handling improved dramatically, mostly due to the tire change from some long lasting goodyear gt II's that were on the stockers to Pirelli P7000z's.

I never heard a squealing of the tires again going around corners, onramps, etc...for that one month I had the car w/ the 17's.

got them for about $150 at options.com, about three years ago. i bought them for my 2nd prelude, which was a 97 typesh, but springs for 4th and 5th are interchangeable. thus i have them now on my 93. they are pretty nice. good drop, good ride.

i got the sumitomo's from tirerack for 54 bucks each + shipping.
i have had these tire for about 3 week's so i cant say anything about treadwear. i had kumho 712's before i cant say much for them. the wore out pretty quick. i dont have any other 225 series experience. cant judge the grip of these tires. i just know it's loads more grip than the old tires.
