Can anyone explain this situation for me?

hello you guys,
Iam from sweden, it could happend that my english isŽnt so good, but i hope youŽll understand.
i have a problem with my car, i have a prelude-92 and i have an fault code(1) in the abs-system.
i have dissambled the abs-pump and i think i know what the problem is.
i think the pressure switch to the pump has been broke, or that the pump not have give so mutch pressure.
I think i noticed that the fluid level was low.
To be sure that the pump was ok, i split the pump and it is ok, it looks fine and i turns as i should be.
BUT my problem is, it does not pump anymore, can it be that is air in the system?
i cant figure out how it will work, i mean the axelshaft from the motor has no contact with the pump.
Is it intendent that the fluid will turn around and then, the pump will turn around?
anyone who can explain the function for me?
thanks/stefan
