Can anybody answer this...

First off I have tried to get help from people and nobody seems to want to answer all people want to talk about is "look at this, do you like that"

I thought there were some real mechanics on this board?

Anyways Does anyone know why my car is doing these things?

First I put a 95 H23 into a 96 s and bought the ODB II to ODB I harness

Second the car starts but idles very low around 400 rpm
then sometimes it jumps to like 1500 rpms and goes back and forth between the two.

third when trying to check timing with the timing light where do you look to check?

When we hook up the map sensor the car doesn't start.

also could anyone be so kind as to post up good pic of their H23 throtle body and Intake manifold so I can make sure all the vacume lines are right.

Thanks to anyone willing to help.

To use the timing light, you have to pull out the little rubber plug that is in the block where the tranny connects to the engine. It's right next to the H23A1. The wierd idle thing sounds like a vacuum problem.

You probably have a vaccuum leak but also check your idle air control valve, coolant levels and the simplest of all remedies, the idling screw. Turn it counter clockwise to up the idle. If the idle is fluctuating like you said though, don't bother with the screw because it won't help a bit.

On the idling thing I am almost sure it is a vacum and you guys confermed it, I tried the idling screw and it didn't help, Also I threw code 9 Which I am sure is because timing is f*cked. But what about the deal with the map sensor that makes no sense at all to me or anyone helping.

Yeah I am thinking this could be a problem. From your post it sounds to me like you are still running your original ecu. It may still run the car but I don't think it is near the same. I don't belive that the f22 has secondary intake runners so I don't know if yours on the h23 are opening at high rpm's.

get out the carb cleaner and start spraying for vaccuum leaks. Unfortunately mine was from my intake manifold gasket and not a faulty hose. Car runs and idles smoother, but I broke the tp sensor gasket taking it off so now I have a check engine light
