Cams question Web vs. Gude

Okay I'm ready to send my extra set of stock H23 cams out to be grinded. I've been talking to Web Cam and Gude .

Web cam recommends stock duration because of valve lash and 10 degrees more lift for around $300.

Web Cam grind is valve lift .390 duration at 230 degrees and DURATION @.050 DEGREES 210 -

Gude grind is Intake LIFT - 0.420 DURATION - 258
Exhaust LIFT - 0.421 DURATION - 258 for around $550.

So what should I do? I need some help here please.

But, there have been many people who get their factory cams reground, and never experience problems. So you can look at it either way.

I had reground cams and never had any problems. Web cams will do them to whatever specs you give them, that will work. Make sure to get springs and retainers as well.

Nope... not unless you've got an H22. Then you have the world of options not available the the H23 crowd

Yeah, us h23'ers are slaves to the Cam-god.

We're slaves to the WE-ONLY-MAKE-PARTS-FOR-VTECS ... THE CARS-HONDA MADE-LESS-OF-THAN-H23S gods... I'll never understand why this happens, just like I'll never understand Spoon's work ethics in making parts for more than a few cars, and then permanently discontinuing them. Oh well, hehe. Sometimes you just have to laugh.

Where can one get springs and retainers for the H23? I heard somthing about using the teg LS aftermarket valve train but I'm not sure. Also, Web cam said that they do not recomend aftermarket valve train for the cam profile they use for the H23.

I am not sure why they recommend that. I would think you would be better off with a slightly higher rate spring. I am not sure about the H23, but they do provide them for the H22. I don't know where they are available, but I woulfd think someone has them.

Yeah that's what portflow did with mine since they couldn't find any springs/retainers specifically for the h23. Because of the spring bases on stock h23's, you can't run dual springs. By swapping the spring bases for ls ones, they could put in stiffer dual springs. Here's some pics.
