Calling all 5 speed 4th gens pls. reply

How many miles do you have on your manual tranny? Any problems at all? Just curious because I bought a manual tranny that has 160k miles on it for my swap. How does $250 sound (local junkyard)?

synchros...that's your main issue. But I suppose you can replace them if you have time. Like I grind sometimes into 5th....but really the tranny has been great and has 110,000 miles on it

121k with no problems. I had an Accord with 177k and no problems. You are taking a chance though. You have no idea if the previous owner took care of it or had any problems with it. I think I would look for one with fewer miles.

Too late now. I already bought it. It comes with a slave cylinder, clutch pipe, fork and speed sensor. Oh well I'll just cross my fingers that it doesn't grind on gear. Maybe if I have time I'll take it apart and check the synchos. But really, who here has over 180K miles with no or minimal problems on their tranny?

So you were the one who bought all those clutch piping, master cyl and pedals from Jose eh? I emailed him about the parts I need and he said that you bought everything grrrr j/k Well guess what...I have a manual ecu and tranny and you don't Anyways pricing really depends on their mileage. There's this other yard I went to that has a manual tranny with 150K miles on it for $350. Too bad it's just a bare tranny. No speed sensor, fork and slave cylinder.

Hey i got an idea, Call up HondaMotorsOnline and ask them for a price. They have 100's of trannies laying all over the place. Everytime they sell a longblock they got an extra trans. I bet they can give you a good price. They dont list the price of the trans but im sure if you call they will give you a good price.

160k, damn thats alot of miles. My 3 gear syncro started going out at 100. I got my trans for 500$. OUCH im sure i could get one for alot cheaper now.

120,000 and it doesn't like to go into first all the time. Sometimes it doesn't like to go into 2nd either. Usually when it's cold. When it warms up it's fine for the most part.

What if you get 14.99999 secs? I guess I'll take all your manual parts Anyways the junkyard gave me 6 months warranty. Hopefully I'll be able to install this by December, right after my finals week.

182,000. runs smoothly, no grinding or anything. just make sure your resoirvoir is at the right level, and that you change the tranny fluid every 10-15k. runs smoothly after that.

heard changing the tranny oil after a certain amount of miles is not good. Maybe thats only on autos.

But anyway, I grind in third some times, if my rpms are high. It used to not do that. I had valvoline 5w30 in there, and then I put some of that Honda MTF, and it started grinding....its weird..

110k Tough to get into first occasionally. double-clutching fixes that though!
