caliper bracket?

i was tring to change my brake pads today and i came across a huge problem...the two bolts that you have to take off to be able to take the calipers off, one is completely striped...i am able to take the top one off but the bottom one wont move...my question is, would i be able to cut the bolt that it goes into (the bolt is on one side and is screwed into the bracket which has a metal oval shape that is needed to hold the bolt down)...if i cut this would i be able to buy a new caliper bracket and fix my problem or is there something else that i need to change/fix?

sorry if i didnt explain right it is pretty hard to explain that

NOt to insult your intelligence, but are you sure its not rusted on?
I would try to use WD-40 and use a 3' pipe over a strong rachit
and see if that would break it?

That situation sux majorly!!!

I had a bold strip out on the caliper on my tempo when I was changing the pads... the head stripped so bad I had to take a sawsall to it! My step dad tried and ended up cutting into the knuckle.... made me so mad... I guess that prooves that you should never work on a car when your drunk, course, then he would never work on cars.....

Maybe that would be a good thing

no its definally not rusted...its not stripped either but that i thought was the easiest way to describe my problem...let me try it this way...the bolt goes into the caliper bracket, and the bracket has the threads and is shaped like an oval with flat ends...well that oval is so wore down that it is a small circle and when i try to take the bolt out, both the bolt and the oval spin making it IMPOSSIBLE to take the bolt out....i tried using a wrench to hold the oval but the teeth just keep eating away at it and making it worse...i think my only answer is to cut it out or just a tourch to heat it up and try that...but i feel that since it keeps spiining it wont fix that problem...if i cut out the thread part on the bracket, would i be able to buy a new one to replace it?
